Choosing Desktop Documentary:
After being exposed to this style of documentary, we have somewhat found the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle for our documentary. Due to COVID we were already aware of the lack of filming we would be able to do with us all in different places across the country. So there was a fear of filling the documentary. After finding a pps to interview it eased some of these concerns, but we were still stumped as to how intertwine the lot together. After seeing this style of documentary we have found out how.
As I am the editor, this is how I feel we can best depict this documentary of ours. It's not just a contemporary way to present it, just as Onlyfans is contemporary, it is being presented in the world Onlyfans lives. We will be in the desktop, so when exploring the web and looking at all these different sites to understand Onlyfans more we will be doing exactly that in the documentary. It not only allows us to show and not tell, but allows us to create an engaging narrative that can be cohesive whereas in a traditional form it could not.
Examples of ideas we have discussed are the ways in which we can go from twitter for example and then to the interview. With this style we could simply follow the curser to the zoom icon and open up a zoom call. Something so simple can create a cohesive transition and before seeing the desktop docs we saw previously, I would have thought this 'wasn't allowed'. But rules are meant to be broken and presenting our work in this way opens the door for our creativity to be on show. It also allows a reflexive element to our documentary on top of the participatory which is one we desired from the start.
