Pros and Cons of Desktop Documentary:

 For me as the editor I have some personal things to get in order with this style of documentary as it has made it a much different task to what we had already planned. This style of documentary is very new to me so will take some trial and error to see how to successfully maneuver the desktop to further the narrative. 

The pros of this style are so clear to see. It is visually engaging, fits within the world of Onlyfans and allows for diverse storytelling. On top of this it fits all the modes of documentary we wanted to create and does so in a very seamless manner. The audience don't necessarily see the camera at work, but may see the premiere pro timeline as a new scene begins. It opens the door for me to really express myself through the edit, so I need to make sure I do it successfully.

The main con of this style is it does require a bit more of a unique touch to a more standard form of documentary. This style requires me to plan out much ahead what I will record through my laptop and then go onto to edit in the timeline. I have to prepare what it is I will record as all the sites and pop ups need to be already ready to be shown. On top of this I will have to alter what is in fact on my desktop as it is so that everything is clear for the viewers at home. 

Overall, this style allows me to express my editing skills and how I am able to construct this narrative in a cohesive manner. We are really focusing on keeping everything in the doc in technology, whether that is through a phone screen or desktop, we have taken a lot of inspiration from docs made by Vice as well as the desktop docs we were shown.

Week 7 - Subtitling

 In this seminar we looked at how to set up subtitles on premiere pro for our projects. I won't go into the out and outs of how to achieve this, but I want to discuss how necessary this is for our project and not just our project but possibly in future work. In our project specifically we will definitely need to look at adding some subtitles in for the interview when the neoncouple speak, not just because it was over zoom, but because they wore masks to hide their identity and this skewed some of their speech so some parts are hard to hear. Week 5 - Post Production Planning

 This is another seminar on the post production process that I found helpful in knowing what is important in my role to focus on. We were told to know your footage inside and out to know off the top of your head where you would want footage to go, this is definitely a beneficial thing to be able to do as I have done this in previous projects and it helps to be efficient with the edit.  The importance of making multiple drafts was also discussed so you can constantly fine tune your film to make it the best it can be. This then allows you to narrow down your story to make it the best it can be, focusing on interesting the audience from the beginning to the end. As mentioned before, it is integral to create a rollercoaster that allows for the highs to feel even higher and the lows to feel lower. Documentary Title:

 This is a short post just to update on a possible title for our documentary that my group have discussed and put forward. I think this is the best title for our documentary that Josee suggested:  Onlyfans: The Online Sexhibit  I believe this is a great title and it really highlights the voyeuristic aspects of not just Onlyfans but also our desktop documentary. This is achieved through the joining of the words exhibit (things you look at) and sex (what Onlyfans shows); this title may change as time goes on, but I believe this is a great name put forward by Josee that should be the title.
