'Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer' (2019)
As we are going with a desktop documentary, it reminded me of a recent Netflix docuseries that took over the world, 'Don't F**k with Cats'. In this docuseries we g on an investigation following an online cat killer. The reason this is beneficial to me at all is the fact it has a strong desktop documentary style implemented in it. When there is an interview recalling conversations online, or searching's on google maps, we see it on our screen as if we are seeing it happen in the moment. This is a fantastic use of the desktop style, not just in showing us information in a more engaging way. But it also shows the effectiveness in replicating what we as a society are so used to doing. This documentary was so entertaining and fun to digest as it felt we were the one on the investigation, searching ourselves as we were seeing things we are all so used to doing.
To summarise, from this docuseries I have taken some inspiration and I have gained more confidence in what we are going to produce as it is clear, when done correctly, it works. We will be browsing similar to this show used it, but instead of it mimicking a live event, ours will be exactly that, a live experience as if you yourself are searching the web.
